At DASU our Staff and Volunteers are all dedicated to delivering first class services for our clients, stakeholders and wider community.

We have a range of services and can offer choices to clients which ensure everyone affected by domestic abuse has access to the right support, advocacy and advice they need in a way that will meet their needs.

Our services are available to women, men and children. Designed with service users to ensure we can really make a difference and move one step closer to eradicating Domestic abuse in North Wales.

Strategic Leadership

Our Trustees and Chief Executive

Strong Governance and strategic leadership are at the heart of everything we do. Our board of Trustees ranging from a varied background oversee the Charity, ensuring that we have clear strategic aims and that our Business plans reflect the work we do and our ambitions for the future.

Our Chief Executive has devolved responsibility for the day to day running of the organisation on behalf of the board. By maintaining and nurturing existing and new partnerships, horizon scanning and strong leadership we can ensure that DASU continues to offer first class, value for money services across North Wales.

Senior Management Team

Our senior management team consists of our Head of Operations, Head of Finance/HR, Head of Services Conwy Denbighshire, Head of Services Flintshire and Wrexham and 2 Regional Heads of Refuge services.

Our Head of Operations, whose also our Deputy Chief Executive is along with the chief executive the lead contact for our IDVA service, and the individual responsible for our various accreditations and service improvement plans.

This team of experienced and professional Senior Managers oversee the delivery of all services within their portfolio.  Managing and monitoring our projects, supported by the Head of Operations to ensure all our services are fully compliant with relevant legislation and accessible to all.

Our Head of Finance and HR enables us to continue to do our work. Ensuring we are fully compliant in our financial and HR functions. Reporting, monitoring and setting our budgets with the SMT each year. At a time when austerity is ever present and staff and volunteers are being asked to do more, this role is critical to the organisation and its continued success.

Outreach & Floating Support

When we’ve helped someone in Crisis we know that’s only the first step. When the immediate threat or need has been addressed, we work with clients in the community to build safety plans, resilience, self-efficacy and life skills. Supporting clients to make informed choices, access housing, legal help, support at court, education, work, volunteering, target hardening and manage their finances are just some of the ways in which our outreach teams can help.


One Stop Shops

DASU has a one stop shop in each of our counties. These offices are a safe space where service users can come to access advice and support. We offer drop-in services and pre-arranged appointments, coffee mornings, a range of information and empowerment programmes, counselling and support to all victims of domestic abuse, including children and young people

Children & Young People’s team

DASU have Children and Young people workers across our four counties. We believe that any child or young person living with or affected by Domestic Abuse should have equal access to services. In doing so we can help them to recover, identify and maintain healthy relationships and reduce the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences in the future. Therefore, we have a dedicated team of Children and Young People support workers, advocating and supporting their clients to enable them to live free from fear.

Crisis Intervention

Many of our clients enter our service in Crisis. They require an immediate response which can sometimes be a one off intervention, support to access other services or merely advice on what options are available to them. This service is the gateway for many clients into other DASU services, such as refuge, outreach, recovery, freedom and other education programmes, legal or immigration support or simply emergency food or clothing.

Our Crisis teams are welcoming and accessible, ensuring that when a service user finally takes the step to disclose and access support, we can offer them the right service for them and provide them with options for their future.


DASU provide a regional IDVA service across Wrexham, Flintshire Denbighshire and Conwy. The Service offers support from a team of expertly trained specialist domestic violence advisers that offer support 24/7 356 days a year to high-risk victims of domestic abuse.

This service commissioned by North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner is a team of specialists who offer support to clients to navigate the Criminal Justice system, access wider support in relation to civil legal issues, access to Domestic Violence Protection Orders, Child access and visitation orders, representation at MARAC and safety planning support including providing safety equipment for the home.

Refuge Team

Working with 2 Head of Refuges DASU has a range of communal and dispersed refuge units across our four counties. We offer safe spaces to Women, Men and their children when they have been forced to flee their homes. We know that people do not to choose to leave their home and go into crisis/refuge accommodation, unless they had to. So, we make sure all our refuge spaces are as welcoming as possible and offer a temporary home for individuals at this time of greatest need. We can offer accommodation to individuals with specific religious or cultural beliefs, limited mobility, complex needs which may impact on their everyday life or if you are fleeing with older children or a pet. We are constantly reviewing our refuge accommodation to ensure we are available to everyone who needs us. Whilst in Refuge we will support you to secure your new home or return safely to your old home. Once you move out of refuge the support continues through our outreach service, we will help you recover and move on.
